The Golden State Warriors rolled in Game 1. The Los Angeles Clippers will be looking to slow them down in Game 2. Here’s how to watch.
Game 1 was a vintage performance for the Warriors. Stephen Curry raining in impossible 3-pointers and running unguardable pick-and-rolls with Draymond Green. A defense that surrendered nothing easy. Turnovers turning into easy points turning into lightening-quick, momentum-killing runs. The end result was a 17-point win that probably wasn’t even as close as the final score indicates.
Of course, the Warriors did show some weaknesses. Kevin Durant lost his cool with Patrick Beverly and both players were ejected. DeMarcus Cousins was an enormous liability on defense (SURPRISE) and the Clippers outscored Golden State by 17 in the 21 minutes he was on the floor. The pick-and-roll Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell ran turned out to be just as unguardable as the Curry-Green version at the other end.
Beating the Warriors in the playoffs, especially on the road, is no easy task. But if Los Angeles can’t steal Game 2, they’ll head home in a fairly deep hole against the presumptive favorites. This is not a great position to be in for a team that’s hoping to build momentum and draw important lessons from this playoff experience.
